Tuesday December 3: Listening Party Event at the Hub, International Day of People with Disability
Out Hear provides new opportunities for expression and connection in the community through personalised and tailored music and sound recording programs, especially for people who experience disability and other barriers to access. Out Hear seeks to amplify the vital and diverse voices in the community, offering opportunities to create, record, and publish original audio work.
In the lead up to International Day of People with Disability on Dec 3, Out Hear will work with the community to design and develop a program of audio recordings, performances and creative expressions to be shared with the community. This project is proudly supported by Merri-bek City Council.
Through accessible workshops at Glenroy Community Hub as well as local outreach programs, the community will explore creative modes of sound making following the interests of the participants. This may include:
- improvisation
- story-telling and podcasting
- recording indoors and outdoors with microphones
- making songs and playing various instruments
- beat-making and electronics
- meditative quiet, natural sounds and ASMR
- Creative exploration of the studio and maker-space resources at the Glenroy Community Hub.
It will be an opportunity to learn new skills and make new friendships.
No prior experience required. All welcome.
Works created will be shared with the community at a special event on December 3, International Day of People with Disability. Family, friends and community welcome.
Programs are facilitated by Dale Gorfinkel who brings passion and many years of experience as a community engaged artist and facilitator. Dale has worked extensively in the Disability community and is continuously inspired by the creativity and vitality of the people he meets.
Additional and community outreach sessions may be made by appointment. For more info contact Dale: info@outhear.com
