You’re invited to the Out Hear Listening Party! Please come and join us in celebrating the amazing work made by participants over the past few months at Merri-bek City Bandroom. This event will also launch a curated compilation of recordings made by the community.

OUT HEAR is presenting accessible sound-making and recording workshops at Merri-bek City Bandroom March 5 – May 24, 2024. 

The program is supported by Arts Merri-bek and Merri-bek City Band and is produced and facilitated by Dale Gorfinkel who brings passion and experience as a community engaged artist and facilitator. 

 

ACTIVITIES:

Participants will be guided through a few creative modes of sound making and get an opportunity to figure out where their interests might be. This includes:
1) quiet, meditative, field recording, experimental, improvisation, field recording, ASMR
2) energetic/dance/beat-making/improvised songs/percussion
3) interviews/podcast/vocals/story-telling

Participants will be encouraged to discover accessible and creative approaches to various instruments as well as develop new skills in studio techniques, audio production and collective improvisation. It will also be an opportunity to connect and make new friendships and collaborations with other artists in the community.

Listening Party
At the end of the program, there will be a live public event and listening party featuring recordings made during the program as well as an opportunity to perform for anyone wishing to present their work for an audience. Audio works may also be published online.

Participants can book in for small group sessions (up to 4 people) or individual sessions. There is no cost to participate.
