MENTORING PROGRAM
Out Hear amplifies the vital and diverse voices in the community, offering opportunities to develop, publish and share audio work through accessible sound-making and recording programs. It is an invitation for individuals, organisations and the broader community to connect, to listen and be heard. Programs are tailored to individuals’ interests and ambitions and are designed to build skills and capacity so that artists can thrive within community and industry contexts. With a focus on sound making, recording and publishing, this one-on-one mentoring gives artists the opportunity to engage with the wider music and arts community, connecting with other creatives and audiences. It also provides a sense of routine and discipline that supports their artistic goals as well as their general independent living.
Out Hear lead facilitator, Dale Gorfinkel has worked for more than a decade in the Disability community and is continuously inspired by the creativity and vitality of the people he meets. He is highly skilled in connecting with others and helping them realise their ambitions as well as helping to open up new opportunities. Dale has worked with many organisations including Austin Health, Arts Access Victoria, Arts Project Australia, Yooralla, Onemda, Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, Regional Arts Victoria, City of Yarra and Merribek Council. He has worked with participants to produce exhibitions, events, live performances, video and audio presentations, online archives and merchandise. He is currently studying a Masters in Creative Therapies.
